Anxiety attack symptoms arise when anxiety levels peak, producing the most extreme manifestations of the 'fight or flight' response. Anxiety attack symptoms are formed when the Amygdala, a small organ in the brain which controls the anxiety response, becomes 'reset' at a higher than appropriate level of anxiety. When this reset happens, the body becomes used to running at a higher than normal level of anxiety.
You KNOW consciously that it feels wrong, but because this reset has happened deep in your subconscious mind, there is very little you can do about it, unless you know how.
Anxiety attack symptoms then arise when the body goes into 'fight or flight' and secretes the hormone adrenalin into the blood stream in order to activate all of the bodily systems required to either run or fight danger.
The stomach and digestive tract slow down, breathing quickens to send more oxygen around the body, water is diverted to the muscles for energy, the heart rate rises and muscles tense... these are just some of the changes which take place and all of these are the changes which cause anxiety attack symptoms to be produced.
All the dizziness, fast heart, shaking, blurred vision, digestive upset, smothering sensations or difficulty breathing and each and every other sensation and thought you experience are anxiety attack symptoms and not the symptoms of anything threatening; they just feel that way.

Anxiety attack symptoms - what can be done to stop them?
