The Linden Method Code Of Conduct & Ethics

Your Protection and security

All information is STRICTLY confidential and treated with utmost respect. As your anxiety disorder counselors, we enter into a one to one 'contract'. You are the most important person in the contract and my code of conduct below is based upon the premise that, as your counselors, we will do nothing that is not in your best interest. We are the ONLY people that will ever have access to your information including your identity and any personal details. Other than 'Exceptions' detailed below, none of your information will be disclosed without your expressed written permission. Our computers are protected with firewall which prevents unauthorized access via its communications.

Exceptions to the Confidentiality Agreement

In the rare event that information should be disclosed (without written consent) would be when we feel, in our professional opinions, that you are endangering yourself or if others are at risk. This includes any risk posed on children by another party. We will always endeavor to obtain your written permission in the first place should the need for disclosure arise. All information is put in writing to you BEFORE disclosure and will only be given to professional bodies that need to know (e.g. Doctors.)

Data Protection Act (1998)

I strictly follow their rules for the storing and handling of sensitive information. All of our emails are saved on floppy disk which is kept under lock and key in my office throughout the duration of our contract. When this has ended, all information is kept for 12 months and then permanently destroyed.

Code of Ethics

The Linden Centers will, at all times, be bound by the above codes and agree to all sections herewith. We will, at all times, provide services and information by a qualified psychologist and give support to our clients via email and telephone at all times.

Counseling code of conduct

We believe that the counseling relationship is not an equal relationship, and that the most important person in the relationship is the client and not the counselor. The code of conduct below is based upon the premise that we, the counselors, will do nothing that is not in the best interest of our client.

  1. The counselor will do nothing that is not in the best interest of their clients
  2. The counseling relationship is for the benefit of the client, and the emotional well being of the client will be the paramount concern of the counselor
  3. Total confidentiality will be maintained, subject only to the following exceptions:
    1. Disclosures with the express permission of the client
    2. Disclosures which lead the counselor to believe that serious harm may befall a third party
    3. Disclosures that would leave the counselor liable to civil or criminal court procedure if not disclosed

Complaints Procedure

  1. The only person who is entitled to make an official complaint about the standard of work of a particular counselor is a client, or someone acting in the best interests of a counselor's clients
  2. All complaints must be made in writing to The Linden Center, 457 S. Kings Rd, Suite G, Nampa, Idaho, 83687, USA or The Linden Center, 3 Ashlane Center, Worcester Road, Kidderminster, DY10 1JR
  3. The client will be sent an acknowledgement. The counselor will be sent a copy of the complaint, and asked to respond directly to 'counseling'
  4. Independent and impartial persons will be asked to examine the details of the original complaint together with the counselor's response, and will seek clarification where required.
  5. The independent and impartial persons may:
    1. Find the complaint proved
    2. Find the complaint unproved
  6. In the event that the complaint is found proved, the counselor will be informed that they will be removed from employment at The Linden Center
  7. The client, or person making the complaint, will be notified of the decision

We agree to abide by these codes.
