Do these medications remove anxiety disorders?
Let me explain...Fluoxetine or Prozac, as it is commonly called, is licensed as an antidepressant medication.
Fluoxetine belongs to a group of drugs called SSRI's or Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors. They were created in order to help the body to maintain a constant health level of Serotonin in the body. Serotonin is the 'feel good' hormone, however its role in anxiety disorders is ZERO.
Prozac does not help with or eliminate anxiety disorders, if anything, its therapeutic benefits are only in the treatment of depression or low mood.
Serotonin is not implicated in the emotion of fear and therefore, adjusting or increasing its level in the body, will not help with an anxiety disorder.
Many people experience additional symptoms whilst taking Fluoxetine. These can cause the anxiety sufferers to believe that their symptoms and condition are worsening.
So why do doctors prescribe Prozac for anxiety disorders? Why aren't there more effective medications available?
Anxiety disorders aren't illnesses... they are simply the emotion of fear 'misfiring'.
Fluoxetine doesn't cure anxiety disorders because there is nothing present to cure.
It's like trying to cure digestion or circulation... they can't be cured... fear it's a natural, valuable and appropriate bodily response.
Anxiety is the condition of the emotion of fear that makes you feel the way you do but anxiety can only be erased in one way and that cannot happen through the use of Prozac (Fluoxetine) or any other drug.
They prescribe Prozac because no drug has ever been created which can remove the inappropriate fear responses experienced during anxiety disorders.
Because it's impossible to create one. It would be like trying to create a medication that removes the word 'and' from your vocabulary... it's nonsense.
Like we said before, anxiety is fear, fear isn't a disease, it's an emotion... a necessary one.
There is only one way to recover from anxiety disorders - The mind and body have the capacity to switch off inappropriate fear very quickly indeed but they both rely on a single process.
Anxiety disorders and low mood aren't treatable through medications or talking therapies; they are systemic disorders which require very specific but also very simple treatment. The speed and efficacy of this recovery process is remarkable.
I asked a psychologist recently... "how many cured sufferers have you cured or met?"
His answer... "You can't cure anxiety"... to which I replied... "Well I haven't had anxiety for 21 years and I have had car crashes, life trauma and tribulations... but haven't, since that day, even felt 'anxious'... fear yes... anxiety NO. All my cured clients feel the same way!"
He then asked me how we cure anxiety... did he really think I was going to tell him after he has spent 17 years treating sufferers with CBT and has never seen a single recovery in his clients! No way.
My wife, my team and myself run the world's only accredited, dedicated anxiety recovery and recovery practitioner training organisation... since 1997 we have helped over 200,000 people to recover from their panic attacks symptoms.
